The smell was pretty bad but we put it out in the sun for 2 days and it was ok. I believe that it was the dye in the yarn that had that funky smell. It was wrapped tightly and so all that smell stayed in until we opened it up. I will bing it into our house on day 3. It is a beautiful rug!!
